Descrição e Responsabilidades

Join our cutting-edge Energy Storage Systems team at Stellantis as a Battery State Estimation Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of next-generation xEV powertrains. In this role, you will lead the development of battery state estimation application software using model-based embedded software tools, planning and executing cell testing and modeling activities that are critical to BMS development throughout the product lifecycle. You'll also conduct research and development in collaboration with external partners to advance expertise in areas such as battery state estimation, cell balancing, cell/pack modeling, xEV energy storage systems, and advanced software design. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality automotive battery systems and software.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and provide roadmap for Stellantis battery state estimation functions including State-of-Charge (SOC), State-of-Power (SOP), and State-of-Health (SOH); collectively known as SOx;
  • Development BMS application software and algorithms using Matlab Simulink model-based software design and implementation on embedded controllers;
  • Coordinate with various test labs and oversee SOx specific cell/battery characterization test plans and cell parameterization across different cell types and multiple vehicle programsInterface with supplier/Stellantis cell/battery test labs and battery specialists;
  • Design experiments to study factors that influence battery cell/pack performance;
  • Support development of Simulink compatible cell/battery models (voltage and thermal responses) for use in BMS validation in Model-in-Loop (MIL) software simulation, and deployment on high voltage cell simulation systems in a Hardware-in-Loop (HIL) test setting;
  • Guide testing and validation of battery state estimation algorithms (SOC, SOH, SOP, charging, balancing) at MIL, HIL, Pack, and Vehicle validation levels;
  • Constructively contribute to Research and Development activities related to energy storage systems and BMS software development for automotive applications;
  • Other areas of expertise needed to support work products include: general knowledge of Hybrid Battery & Hybrid Vehicle/powertrain operation, expert level knowledge of Matlab scripting and Matlab Simulink/Stateflow.
